He was appointed Malaysian Prime Minister's Special Envoy to China in 2011. ==Early life== Ong was born on 15 November 1956 in Perak. He graduated from University of Malaya, majoring in Mathematics and Science in 1980. He began his career as a teacher in Catholic High School in Petaling Jaya from 1981 until 1986.
